Position Overview & Specifications

The V&A is at one of the most exciting times in its history. Housing 2.3m objects that span 5000 years of human ingenuity, alongside a world-leading exhibition programme, the V&A family is expanding. By 2025, we will be operating five venues in the UK, each with their own programming and audience targets and unique challenges.

From retaining V&A South Kensington’s established and engaged core audience, to reaching young and diverse audiences who wouldn’t usually visit museums in V&A East and inspiring creative confidence in children at the redesigned Young V&A, this role will help the V&A deliver its audience strategy goals. It will do this by conducting audience research across our new temporary exhibitions and permanent galleries to increase our understanding of what content and approaches are most successful at engaging our core audiences as well as attracting new and diverse audiences

This role will conduct front-end, formative and summative evaluation to support the development of our permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions. It will disseminate the findings to ensure we are meeting the needs of our audiences and achieving our audience goals. This knowledge generated will assist multiple teams across the Museum, including Marketing, Interpretation, Exhibitions, Curatorial and Visitor Experience. The role will work closely with other members of the Audience Insight team to create and dissemination bodies of knowledge about our audiences, content and experiences to embed into future projects.
