The University of Lincoln is a high achieving centre of academic excellence which has been recognised nationally and internationally. It is an ambitious, fast-paced, dynamic organisation with multiple stakeholders which strives always to improve the student and staff experience and engagement with the wider Lincoln community.

The sector and our university is in a period of unprecedented change, driven by the ambition of our new strategic plan and the expectations of our students and stakeholders. Our people are central to our success, their commitment to our university, is the foundation for the experience our students have whilst studying with us. Key to successfully navigating this time of change will be the successful implementation of a suite of strategic workforce projects implemented through a responsive, customer-focussed People, Performance and Culture (PPC) Directorate.

The PPC team are key to shaping and embedding a great colleague experience and we are now seeking a new Chief People Officer (CPO) to lead this team, deliver contemporary practice and evolve our thinking about the most important part of our organisation – our people. A key part of the role will be to consider how we recruit, recognise and reward the contribution our people make. Whilst this is an important part of the colleague experience, it is also essential in supporting our sustainability as a university allowing us to shape our future.

Whilst previous higher education experience is not required, candidates will bring experience in a complex, unionised environment that has undergone significant change. Importantly, the role requires a leader with a proven ability to bring contemporary practices to bear on future ways of working and an ability to work with others to drive organisational performance through our people. You will enjoy building strong and credible relationships with other leaders, and be a confident coach, with the ability to work alongside others in a strong senior leadership team.
