Job description

Permanent, 37 hours per week

We are looking to appoint an experienced Archivist to work in our award-winning facility Heritage Quay, the Archives and Records Management service of the University of Huddersfield.

At Heritage Quay we care for 170+ archives and special collections including those of the University, Brass Bands England, British Music Collection, England Netball, Huddersfield Labour Party, Mikron Theatre Company, Sir Patrick Stewart, Rugby Football League, Ted Hughes Network, and World Netball.

You will have a degree/post graduate qualification in Archives/Records/Information Management or equivalent experience, together with experience of staff supervision and excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities will include operating our public service, research room supervision, answering enquiries, archival appraisal and cataloguing, digital preservation, and liaising with a range of stakeholders. The postholder will also manage staff and volunteers, and lead on skills training and teaching for the service.

The role may include some opportunity for hybrid working. Occasional evening and weekend work can be expected on a rota basis.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further or have any questions about the role, please contact Rebecca Bowd via email R.E.Bowd@hud.ac.uk

If you are a current student at the University, you are welcome to apply for part-time roles of 15 hours or less per week, unless you are a part-time postgraduate student, in which case you can also apply for full time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
