Position Overview & Specifications

To be responsible for the processing of prescriptions in accordance with pharmacy policy and extant legislation. In addition, the post-holder will be required to support the Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacy Lead in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times, whilst supporting the multi-disciplinary team in line with the strategic objectives of the Pharmacy.

The successful candidate will be a qualified dispenser and will be based at Oak Tree Pharmacy.

About the Pharmacy

Oak Tree Pharmacy are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Qualified Dispenser to join our friendly and dynamic team on a full time contract for 36 hours per week across four days.

Business Objective: To be leaders in the health and wellbeing of our staff and patients.

Oak Tree Pharmacy provides pharmacy services for a large innovative GP practice operating from two sites situated in South East Cornwall with a great mix of rural and market town patients. They also provide pharmacy services for patients not registered with the GP practice.

· Remote triage practice using the latest technology to deliver virtual consultations

· In house clinical research unit and EMIS Web clinical system

The following are the core responsibilities of the Dispenser. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. To be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies

b. Dispensing medicines to the population safely and accurately

c. Collecting prescription charges in accordance with pharmacy protocol

d. Maintaining stock levels within the pharmacy, liaising with the pharmacy lead to facilitate reordering

e. Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable

f. Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed with in accordance with pharmacy policy

g. Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines

h. Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a 5 working days timeframe

i. Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters

j. Process prescription requests via email, phone, fax, face-to-face and online

k. Processing Dossett boxes

l. Assisting the Pharmacy Lead in the preparation of monthly returns
