Position Overview & Specifications

About us

Indie Peace is a UK-based non-profit conflict transformation organisation specialising in research, analysis, training and facilitation of dialogue to build confidence between communities affected by conflict. Our geographic expertise is mainly in the former Soviet Union and neighbouring regions. Founded by two women with extensive experience working on the conflicts in the post-Soviet region, Indie Peace works in horizontal partnerships with networks of peace practitioners globally who share our vision and values. We develop and manage our own programs as well as provide consultancy to local and international organisations.

As the organisation is growing and planning to take on new contracts with multiple institutional donors, we are seeking an experienced grants and finance manager to ensure Indie Peace has robust financial and operational management systems in place.

We are professional and collaborative.

About the Role:

The Grants and Finance Manager is a new role, reporting to the Directors and supporting the organisation’s expansion. In this respect, the role involves elements of both strategic systems development, and day to day operational financial administration. It is an opportunity for a flexible and pro-active person who shares our values to contribute to the organisation’s development and expand its capabilities. While this is a fixed term contract, the role may be extended (subject to funding) and evolve to meet changing needs. As a small team, we are open to flexible working.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

(1) Lead on financial management of grant funded projects

  • Ensure donor-compliant administrative and financial management of all transactions related to project grants, including sub-grants to partners.
  • Ensure systems are in place to be compliant with the donor’s administrative and procurement rules and procedures, and to ensure organisational preparedness for future grant audits.
  • Monitor grant expenditure and cash-flow.
  • Prepare donor financial reports.

(2) Develop and manage Indie Peace day-to-day financial operations:

  • Audit the current financial management systems, policies and procedures in place and, in consultation with the Directors, implement measures to develop these systems to meet donor and statutory requirements as the organisation grows.
  • Follow up on financial transactions, record and reconcile all payments and receipts in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly expense and financial reports, maintaining and updating cash flow forecast.
