Position Overview & Specifications

Make everyday count and start a career packed with job satisfaction!!

Our teams across Galashiels, Kelso, Coldstream, Hawick, Tweedbank and Eildon Locality are expanding and we're on the lookout for people who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of others to join them as Support Practitioners. We have various contracts available up to 39 hours per week.

The Role

The great thing about this job is that no two days are ever the same. As a Support Practitioner, you'll help us to make sure that we can continue to deliver excellent care and support during times of colleague annual leave, training and absence.

You'll help the people we support with all aspects of daily living, including going to appointments, personal care, shopping, cooking, housework and medication. You'll also find yourselves getting involved in many of their hobbies and interests too, which include going for walks, the cinema, the pub, arts & crafts, baking, day trips and much more! Our aim is to enable the people we support to live a fulfilling and valued life, where they can achieve their own personal goals and aspirations. You will participate in the planning and delivery of person-centred care and encourage the people we support to express their views and wishes. With your help we will enable the people we support to play an active role within their local communities.

About You

We recruit on values and transferrable skills, so you don't need experience or qualifications to start your career with us. We'll pay you for your training and give you all the practical skills that you'll need. We'll even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualification too!

What we need you to bring;

  • Good communication skills
  • A caring attitude and approach
  • A positive approach to learning
  • Confidence in the use of computers

Shift Patterns

We have both housing and community support teams in and around the Scottish Borders with shifts usually falling into patterns of early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, waking nights, sleepovers and public holidays.

Our sleepovers are not included in your contracted hours, so you will receive an additional £84 for every sleepover you work. Waking nights are paid at your normal hourly rate plus an additional £20 per night worked.

Sound interesting? What are you waiting for? Apply today, and come along to our Hiring Event on Thursday 27th April at the Volunteer Hall in Galashiels, 1pm - 6pm.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy.

If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
